I recently downloaded the episode of house shot on the 5d mark ii from itunes in hd and the number one thing I was most impressed with was how they seemed to be using softlight but you could still see a lot of texture in the skin. Usually when I light a subject with softlight (usually a open face thru chimera or putting full diffusion paper over a 650-1000 fresnel) peoples facial attributes tend to smooth over and makes blemishes and wrinkles disappear. How can I light soft and still see details in the skin?
