Using pictures

Has any else had problems with pictures and FCPHD. I have some picture that are about 700-2000k in size. When I moving them around its so slow and it takes forever to render if I change anything. What am I doing wrong or is it just because its big file for FCP to work with.

I using a dual 1.8 G5

What kind of pictures are they? JPEG? Are you simply taking them from the browser or viewer and putting them on the timeline? Or are you taking them from another timeline and putting them on the current one? Are you doing anything to the pictures or anything layered on them? If it is needing to render and it is simply a picture, then something is wrong with your settings.
