Using NPF Batteries with Aputure 120D with an NPF to V-Mount Adaptor?

Anyone tried something similar to this and how much run time did you get?

I am considering either getting a 2 slot or 4 slot NPF to V mount converter to use on a Aputure 120D II Light?

Any advise?

Thank you.

Terrible idea. NPFs are for small lights, not a 120d that actually takes some serious voltage and amperage and even goes through V-Mounts pretty quickly.

I tried this on an aputure LS1 panel. It doesn't work. The plate just cut out within seconds. Presumably not nearly enough power. Waste of time.

L- mount

At this point NP is the more commonly known naming convention, but the mount itself is “L”.

Sony uses NP for many of their batteries. The NP-Fxxx series could spawn a NP-Fxx or NP-Fxxxx series with diferent mounts. And Sony could start making H900 battery with L mount. So, even NP-F could end up being uneccesarily confusing.

Even nofilmschool gets it mixedup. The core battery rep calls it L mount in the video though.

I understand when talking about the batteries themselves. And in the case of this thread, the grey area, of adapting a battery model to a vmount. Though typically people are talking about the L mount, and end up saying NP style, or NPF.

NP-1
NP-Fxxx
NP-FWxx

Are the three sony battery types i see the most on the average day.

NP-1 being the classic slab batteries, most commonly seen in a sound bag.
NP-Fxxx the ones mentioned in this thread, that are used on camcorders, mobile lights....
NP-FWxx being the batteries used by the A7 cameras.

I can’t think of anyone that says hc dionic style battery to V mount.

I can only think the aftermarket battery naming conventions are the reason for the crossing of terms.

Your light draws 9 amps, but the first adapter plate only outputs 6 amps, so it won't work. The second adapter plate should work, but you'd probably be better off with high capacity v-mount batteries.
