Using Nikon DSLR Lenses

Sorry about that..the lens I was referring to is the 80mm-200mm f2.8D for $900: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/124669-USA/Nikon_1986_80_200mm_f_2_8_ED_AF_D.html

It doesn't have vibration reduction like the 70-200...but of course this feature will not work on an adapter. That 80-200 is an amazing lens.

I just bought one and I agree. Stunning image quality in every way. When my RR follow focus arrives (soon) I'll see how they work together. Apparently, given the Nikon's short throw and possibly some play in the focus wheel, that's the biggest question. I'll post my findings when I've had some time to try them together. I'll do the same with the Nikon 17-35 ED I just bought on eBay.

I just found the 35-70 f2.8D (discontinued, but still a few ebay lenses out there) to complete the 17-35, and 80-200 set. This will be our standard Nikon set for local rental.
