using HVX stock lens for wide angle

Hey sorry to have to start a new post for this but I know I've seen a thread (can't find it anywhere) on using the HVX stock lens for a wide while using a black mist or something to get it to match nikon primes. Does anyone know where this post is, or have any tips/thoughts on using the HVX without an adapter as my wide angle??

You can try matching the feel of the adapter by adding a very light Black Promist 1/8 or 1/4. It helps.
You could also diffuse in post.

Problem is that a lot of what I shoot is shoot-and-deliver and I don't have much control over post, so while that would be a good solution I don't want to fully rely on it.

Same for me and usually I'm very disappointed by the lack of attention I see in post color correction. I wouldn't want to trust them to do the diffusion. It's sad but that's experience talking and I don't think I do low end work. I have a piece that I'm putting together for my own portfolio like that. The B roll was sans adapter and I have to do it myself despite telling the client that it needed to be done.
