Using DVX100A's phantom power

Hello, recently bought a DVX100A and am now looking for a good, mid priced mike. I have read good things on this forum about the AKG Blue Line C300B and CK 93. Together they are only about 9 inches long. I don't think they will show up in the image when attached to the camera if I shoot in wide angle. I used my me66 and it is so long that it did show in the image when I shot in wide angle. Also, I want a mike with a less narrow pick-up pattern than the me66 when I use it indoors attached to a boom. The CK93 is supposedly a hypercardioid make. I have three questions:
1) Any bad experiences with this mike?
2) It requires phantom power. Will it work with the power from the DVX100A?
3) Will it run down my camera batteries much more quickly than shooting with a different mike that his it's own power supply? Thanks for your help. Henry Ganzler

1) Sorry, but I do not have any experience with this specific mic so I can't offer any comments.

2) Yes, a DVX can supply a phantom mic by enabling the "MIC POWER +48V" option for the specific channel that you intend to use the microphone on.

3) The power requirements of most phantom powered mics is around 1 - 2 mA so the effect on the camera's battery life would be insignificant compared to the +2000 mA that the camera consumes.

Thanks for your help. Knowing that using phantom power doesn't add much drain to the battery gives me much more choice in terms of what mikes to buy. Henry
