Using anamorphic lenses made for projectors

I would like to start shooting with anamorphic lenses, but my budget isn't enough to buy real anamorphic lenses made for filmmaking (i.e. Hawk, Arri, Cooke, ...). I heard about the possibility to use anamorphic lenses made for projectors. How does it work and what do I have to be aware of?

Would be great to get some information about that. Looking forward to hear from you guys!

Last time I tried it you had to focus both the taking lens and the anamorphic lens attached which is a *****. And you had to add Diopters to do anything close focus.

How did you attache the anamorphic lens to "normal" lens?

It had been converted with an adapter to screw on your normal lens.

I bought it off ebay as a test. I wouldn't want to mess with this type setup anytime soon. It was a PITA.
