Using an NTSC camera in the UK.

This may not be the best thread to ask this question. I could buy a NTSC DVX at half the price than the UK, but my issue is will it seriously cause me more problems using it in PAL land than the initial savings. Can Premiere easily convert the footage and will it be acceptable for broadcast. I also would like to keep option of film prints of documentaries and I have heard that PAL is troublesome as it is 25p. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PAL 25p is actually much easier than NTSC 24p, because it is just transfered to film at 25 fps. If shown in theatres it just runs a few % slow, but who cares? If shown on TV it runs perfect (in PAL land). Besides PAL has more resolution than NTSC.

25p implementation on PAL DV is a non-issue, 24p on NTSC DV is a can of worms (fitting 24 fps into 29,97 fps datastream). Just make a search on "pulldown"...

I would go for PAL, because like Petrus said, it is incredibly easy to do a filmout, or to transcode for DVDs or broadcast without messing around with different frame rates, pulldowns etc.
