using a ring flash (example)

So I bought a Canon 580 EX II speed light along with a rayflash ring light:

Allows for some cool stuff. For example, did this test shot for a clothing designer (below). I was able to use the internal light meter and exposure properly for the background sky, and then used the flash/rayflash to fill in the light for the model. The rayflash really helps to smooth out shadows and not make the flash appear harsh. Not bad if I may say so:

Try an extreme closeup shot with a wideangle lens and get the ringlight into their eyeballs to show the ringlight reflection..very cool effect.

seriously no offense but you just described two things that most photographer try to avoid. ring lights in the eyes and extreme wide closeups of people.

I can't tell for sure but it looks like your ringlight is just hitting his center of his body and not filling his face much. Seems like the sun is what's filling his face. Nice pic either way!
