Using a rig that's too light for a tripod?

Hi folks :)

I'm looking at (finally) investing in a decent tripod system for my beloved DVX and am eyeing up the Libec LS-38(2A) due to the rave reviews I've seen (as well as it having a price tag that I can actually afford)

Now, I understand that buying a tripod is an investment, and if I could, I'd be picking up something much more expensive - but that's not going to be happening here.

But I digress.... The problem that I have is that the specs quote the head load capacity at 8-18lbs - my naked DVX though only weighs in at closer to 5lbs at present (next on the list is an adapter, rails, monitor and mattebox - but it won't be happening this year at least - baby steps :) )

Now I am not in a position to try out the Libec and need to know if having a camera mounted to a tripod designed for a heavier set-up is a good idea at all. I'll most likely really only be doing basic movements with the setup (pan or tilt) and would like to know if having a light camera is going to screw this up much, if at all? I read that with an unloaded HVX, it doesn't tilt the best - but to what extent I have no idea - Having never used anything of pro quality, I have no frame of reference to compare anything to.

Would appreciate if some of you folks could help me out
Thanks heaps!
Peter
