Using a laptop as a monitor in the field

Hi, this could well be a dumb question.

I'd like to use an inexpensive HP laptop as a monitor in the field for my dvx 100b, to assist in focusing and framing.

Is this easily done? What cables are needed?

Firewire and Adobe OnLocation.

Onlocation is a great program for this, but its not realistic to use the firwire, you will have to keep constanly moving the laptop and making sure the cable stays in the camera. Now only if they had a wireless firewire.....

Hello Tony,

OnLocation currently doesn't have wireless support, so it is limited to Firewire in CS4. What wireless cameras are you guys using currently or anticipating purchasing?

There are only two ways to get video out of your camera -- by firewire, or by the analog outputs. There really isn't any wireless solution worth doing.
