using a laptop and desktop editing...

How many of you have both a laptop and desktop editing systems? I just have a desk top for now but I am thinking of getting a laptop so I can continue to work on projects when I am on the road or at work in down time.

i own a g4 powerbook and tower. you definitely want the fastest system which would be your tower and when needed or essential to video edit on the road, the laptop is a great compliment to the tower. that being said, i will be gewtting a g5 2.5 dual soon and can't wait for the g5 powerbook...hopefully macworld san francisco. 8)

I also work with a laptop and a desktop for editing. One of the main advantages to having the laptop (of course) is quick capture and the ability to try things out right in the field to show the client, not to mention the convenience of using the laptop as a focus/composition aid.

When actually editing the project obviously you're going to potentially have an easier time with a desktop (multiple monitors, larger hard drive capacity, more RAM, better video card, etc.) but any of the newer PowerBooks, or even G4 iBooks will definitely get the job done.

Now I can use the same FCP install discs I used on the tower for the powerbook too right?
