using a GPS with A/V input as a field monitor

i'm looking for an inexpensive on-camera field monitor and have seen recommendations for CoolLCD, SmallHD, Lilliput, etc.

has anyone considered (or tried!) a GPS with a/v input? advantages would be built-in battery, small size, and availability (at retail or on-line stores). for example, the Magellan RoadMate 1700 is 7" diagonal, has a WVGA screen (so that's 800x480), and an analog video input. so it sounds equivalent in size and resolution to some Lilliput monitors. list price of the Magellan is $250, but i've seen them on amazon for $150 and walmart for even less. heck compusa/tigerdirect has refurb ones for $100 (which i assume means there's a pixel or two that are bad). maybe you could even find one extremely cheap on ebay if the GPS circuit doesnt work but the screen is still OK.

any thoughts on this approach?

thanks

I wish MY Magellan RoadMate had a video input because the GPS receiver died, rendering it useless.
But then, as Mr. Schlicher said, it would only be SD anyway.
