Using a broadcast monitor through VGA S-video out

Hi,

I've used this setup before with decent results (flighted on TV) but then realized that the VGA card probably "colours" the output. Graphics cards seem to have a lot of options to control this "colouring" with gamma correction options etc but just becasue they are "zeroed" or "normalized" in the software settings doesn't mean the image isn't coloured. Is there any way to neutralize it completely so that what is seen on the broadcast monitor is "true" to the file or does one need a decklink or similar device?

Any thoughs?

I've done the same Richard for our Combustion suit on which we often do prep-work for the Flame suits. Clients have on occasion suggested that our monitor was a little "out" compared to the Flames which is what worried me since all the monitors were calibrated by the same engineer. (but then ours is a cheap JVC and the Flames use top-notch Sonys)

So following logically, if the VGA card 'colours' the image slightly and the monitor is calibrated (on this system), the in-monitor calibration setting should "counter-act" the 'colouring' by the VGA card and software. Though this isn't ideal, the overall effect should be that the pixels in the actual file are more or less accurately represented on the monitor (in a broadcast standard)?

Is the logic sound or am I missing something?
