Useful equipment?

Hey guys I'm a highschool student and right now I own a canon, I forget which model but its like 275 dollars. I wanted to know what equipment is most useful to me and needed even tho I'm not a professional. I make shorts but usually the only things i use are my camera and my editing software. Are gels for lights worth getting? Are new lenses worth getting? Is a boom mic worth getting? Keep in mind I'm not part of a professional production company, and I don't have much money, although I'm very serious about videos and plan to make it a career, so I want my videos to be at least a decent quality..... Anyone have any advice?

Ya I plan on getting a tripod but I mean besides that? I have three lights, one construction type light, and two lights that are just regular light bulbs with these metal bowls around them..... What else should I get? Is a boom mic worth it? If I got one it would probably be a cheap one.... And should I get gels and color lenses? Or is it okay if I just change the color in post production?

I don't think it would be worth it to get gels at this point. If you're using them to tint the color of your footage, just do it in post. As far as I'm concerned, gels are really only necessary to correct for color temperature differences between day light and tungsten light or what have you.

By color lenses, you must mean colored lens filters like warming filters and cooling filters. Don't use these, just color in post. I do recommend getting these filters though:

UV Filter - Protects the lens, prevents haze when outdoors.
Circular Polarizer - Cuts down on reflected light, brings out blue color in sky when outdoors.
ND Filters - Basically sunglasses for your lens. Allows you more freedom with shutter and iris during extremely bright conditions.

I'd say to get equipment that you can use/build on in the future, for example, its not worth getting a cheapy tripod to tide you over, I'd say, if you have any extra cash, get a decent tripod, and eventually a better video camera, even one where you have control over basics like focus, iris, shutter. You will be surprised how much you learn playing/using a camera with more features.

Just my 2 cents.
