Used Lectrosonics 411/UM400 Lav or Awesome Boom Mic?

I currently own an AT897 Boom and 2 Lectrosonics 411a/UM400a Wireless Lavs. The Lavs are amazing and I have enough to buy one more Lectrosonics 411a/Um400a that is in great condition from a friend of mine for about $2k.

OR, do I spend my money instead on an upgrade for my Boom Mic?

For a Boom Mic, I'm looking at the Sanken series (CS1, CS2, CS3), Senhesier 416 & 418, or possibly even a Neumann KMR81IMT.

Where would you spend your money if it were you?

This isn't a question of what model mic to buy.
You are asking to choose between 2 totally different styles of microphones (wireless lav and a boom)

Either you need a 3rd wireless or you don't.

What kind of productions do you usually work on?
Unless you rely mostly on wireless lav's and often need a 3rd wireless channel I would get a nice shotgun or, even better, a shotgun and a hyper ($2000 should be enough to get 2 very nice used mics). IMO the sound from a good, properly placed boom mic will nearly always be much better than what the best lav can produce.

If you occasionally have a job that requires 3 wireless lav's you can always rent one.

Just thinking out loud here:

You didn't mention owning a hyper, so how about a NTG-3 + a top notch hyper = $2000

That gets you a huge improvement in shotgun and a hyper. But as Rippie said, "do you need the third wireless?"

$2K isn't a great price for the Lectros...it's a good price but not a huge discount off of what you can find on eBay. But, that said, look for a really good price on 416 (I paid $300 for mine). You certainly don't need to spend $2K on a shotgun.
