Used HPX 170, should I pull the trigger?

1. I have a chance to buy a used HPX 170 with 500 hours of use for $2500, it is a 9 out of 10 condition wise. Is this worth it?

That is pretty high. I recently sold mine with 2-16GB P2 cards, 4 batteries, all origninal acessories and boxes, in excellent condition for $1775. It had 458 hours on it. $1650 seems to be the used market average for excellent condition.

What comes with the camera for $2500? I got my hpx170 with 2 16g p2 cards, kata bag, firewire and a frezzolini dimmer for $1500 off craigslist. It had just over a 1000 hours but in 9/10 condition and works like a dream. Id check craigslist and ebay, i randomly check ebay and I've seen them going for around $1500+. and i also heard a rumor that they stopped making the hvx/hpx/hmc lines... so grab one fast!

How long do you think a 6 year old camera will be a viable option for you and your clients?

i still use my hpx170 a LOT for corporate interview, event and chroma shoots. its just a lot more practical for those uses than dslrs or other more trendy devices.

$2500 is pretty high unless it comes with a good bit of extras (cards, batteries, etc...) the other two posts here are pretty accurate about current market prices.
