Used Audio Gear

I think the reason why the advice was given even though you specifically didn't ask was probably after seeing your recent HVX purchase and thinking that since you purchased the HVX instead of any lower priced camera that you must be interested in producing a quality product. With that being said Oleg and everybody else myself included understood that it would have been a disservice to yourself to have a stellar image but have audio be subpar hence the suggestion for a better quality audio setup. But hey it's all cool :-)

I can't say I didn't take a little offense with lines like "I should be so lucky to live in a city where.." and "I never understand how some one can spend $5,000+ on a camera, and expect to get away with a few hundred bucks for audio gear." I mean, is there a need for these types of comments when giving an opinion, I don't think so, but hey, thats just me.

I made those comments because I see the same situation over and over again, where some one new to the field plunks down 95 percent of their equipment budget on a camera, and expects to fill their audio needs with the remaining 5 percent.

I made the comment about being lucky to live in a city with a Trew Audio store, because most people don't. TA is about as good as it gets when buying/renting audio gear for ENG/EFP work. They sell used too, but $200 won't buy much on the used market.

Trew Audio does not increase the price by 10-15%. The selling price is determined by the seller. Very often Trew recommends a resale value, but the ultimate pricing decision is that of the seller. In addition, the majority of consignment sellers prefer to move their equipment quickly, so they price they items below the recommended price. I doubt seriously you will find a more comprehensive selection and well organized used equipment website than http://www.trewaudio.com/consignment/
It is true that Trew Audio takes a commission, but most people are happy to pay that charge to place their items on Trew's site, have it photographed and orchestrate all the transactions.
