Used Alexa or new FS7.

We are about to film a movie in Africa. I can buy a used Alexa classic (8000 hours on the counter) from a rental place instead of a new FS7. Both are less than 10 thousand. We use Nikon lenses with adaptors. Which would you choose?

Well... it really depends. Is it a documentary or acted movie? If it is a documentary in my eyes the FS7 is a better choice. Less power hungry, lighter and capable of adapting most of the known lenses through adapters. Not to mention it's 4K, which some producers are picky about. You can also operate the FS7 by your own as a DOP and OP. No so much if you are shooting with an Alexa. Alexa is a still pleasantly looking camera (images) and very durable.

If you have the resources - Alexa
If you favour "easy" of use, relatively light camera, wit still good looking image - FS7

You'll need much beefier support for the Alexa. Everything weighs more. If the weight and lugging it around is not a problem and you already have all the equipment, go for the Alexa. The image will be better.

If the weight, a bigger/more expensive tripod, and the power draw aren't going to be problematic for you, I'd hands down say go for the Alexa. You will need to add ND filters to your package though.

Based on the history of questions the OP has asked recently, I'd say a secondhand Arri Alexa Classic is a very bad move for him indeed.
