use prores 422

i am working with hdv material from a canon xha1 on fcp 6.

i am struggling with long renderingtimes.

so, have i understood this right:

can i shorten my rendertimes by using prores 422 HQ and output in this format? is it so that if i render in prores it will be considerably shorter rendertimes, but a longer time to output to quicktime?
will i achieve a same quality in output as when rendering with hdv50i?

Go into your sequence settings and under the "render tab" change the render codec to ProRes and see if that helps.

Or simply drop your HDV footage in a ProRes sequence.
