P powerdog Veteran Feb 5, 2007 #1 I installed a FW800 card in my G5 so I'd have a second bus for my external media drive, as often recommended. The card has 3 FW ports, so am I compromising anything if I use one of the extra ports for another drive?

V VaricamLife Well-known member Feb 5, 2007 #3 Ah technically, perhaps, realistically I don't think so. I've done daisy chains with FW drives and had flawless performance. With a dedicated card and FW 800 too boot, I can't imagine you'd have any problem with all three ports loaded. Good luck. cheers.
