USB to PCMCIA card reader

Will this work for the P2 cards?

I'm hoping to pick up a used 12" powerbook and then get a brick battery as well. It will be for on set-editing and uploading.

Anyone thought of a workaround for building a battery powered firewire hardwire in tandem with the PCMCIA reader. Maybe a programmer could have a nice hobby of making an inexpensive p2 store. I have no idea if it's even a pipe dream.

I don't think that reader to work. In order to read from P2 cards, your PCMCIA reader must support Cardbus, and this product makes no mention of it. As far as I know, the only PCMCIA readers for desktops that support Cardbus are PCI cards.

wake up panasonic, something like this needs to be a standard in the box accessory. It shouldn't be up to the user to work up a solution to get p2 into the computer. P2 store is beyond the budget of the HVX market, and using camera as download device is not practacle on set. As ibook, macbook pro and 12" powerbooks do not have pc card adapers, some sort of usb2 reader needs to be made available

Some may argue carrying around a card reader attached to a laptop is not practicle on set either.

Yes. I have to figure something out quickly. Our camera arrived today and I will be running around soon enough. I have opted to just get 2 p2 cards and I'll be picking up the firestore when it's available. I do like p2 and it will work great for my projects and for narrative stuff... but I already had a hard time today explaining to a client about the offloading process and how there has to be allowences for such and for backup to firewire drive and/or harddrive.

I think it's kind of a nice problem to have to figure out.
