Ursa Mini 4K and 4.6K Issues *Screen Shots / Pics

I've been really out of the loop with film making lately because of my day job. I'm looking to get back into the swing of things this year and have been looking to get a new camera. The URSA Mini caught my eye so I've been doing a lot of research on it and have been considering getting either the 4k or 4.6k version. However I have been noticing some issues with the BETA/Test footage being released on it. It seems like some of the same past issues are still there and still haven't been fixed yet. I was hoping more knowledgeable people might offer feedback on some of my concerns.

So here we go...

the issue is likely simpler than you think: you watched/grabbed those images from the vimeo compressed video that was compressed yet a first time by the uploader, didn't you? ;)

Perhaps there is some moire and noise in the 4K, but I'm not seeing any issues with the 4.6K. Image 3 looks to be a combination of motion blur and compression artifacts and image 4 looks like normal motion blur.

First of all the 4K definitely will have problems and those are fairly well documented. BM tends not to use OLPFs so its not surprising that some fine details will moire on the 4k, and the 4k is known for having lower DR and it seems like most of the BM cameras have FPN in there if you push them too hard. As for the 4.6k, though, the only examples here seem to be screenshots from the highly compressed vimeo with motion artifacting is way more likely to occur in high motion in a heavily recompressed video. Did you download and look for it in the originals which are far less compressed?

For the screenshots above, if a download was available, I downloaded the highest resolution available and did a screenshot from that.

The two Motion Distortion examples above are from downloaded versions. However even the download version is converted by Vimeo to a much smaller download file, and is not a download of the original file size that I am aware of. So from what I hear it is likely just a combination of motion blur and vimeo artifacting.

Without them releasing any raw/original downloads, it will be hard to tell for sure though. Although on another forum the uploader of one of the 4.6k videos said that it doesn't look like that before he uploaded it. So this would then imply vimeo artifacting plus motion blur causing it to warp like that.

So far I have combed through all 4k and 4.6k ursa mini footage I could find and the above are the worst examples. The overall image quality is amazing on a 4k tv for the ones that have 4k enabled to view. I also could find very little wrong with the 4.6k footage released. I was not able to find any moire, heavy fixed pattern noise or anything else unusual. It seems to have that worked out. Has anyone found anything noticably wrong with the 4.6k footage released so far?

One thing that has been pointed out in video comments is the camera may tend to over crush the blacks and not provide detail, for example in the running video, her black pants seem to have no definition. Most people respond or think it's likely how they color graded it.

Another issue is how there seems to be little definition in sky footage which indicates a possible poorer than expected dynamic range. Most people respond or think it's likely an overcast day or there are no clouds that day.

There are a few new 4.6k beta testers now who posted they got their cameras. So hopefully they will do some real tests on dynamic range, how it handles motion, how it handles moire causing patterns and low light situations.
