Urgently need help!

Hey guys,

I desperately need some help here. I'm working on Final Cut Pro 6.0.4 Academic version, I've recently been trying to capture and edit a 16:9 project, except I'm having some massive issues.

For some reason, in my sequence/preset settings, I cannot locate DV PAL - Anamorphic, it is NOWHERE to be found. However, when I go to my /Applications/Final Cut Pro Additional Easy Setups/English, the DV-PAL Anamorphic.fcpre file is just sitting there, but for some reason I can't figure out how to load it into Final Cut.

I have spent the last few hours going through every single in and out of the software and I cannot find a single method to import this file so that I can begin work on this edit. I only have about 9 days to work on this cut so I really do not have any time to waste on this. I have searched Google and the Final Cut user documents over and over again, and I cannot find a single bit of information about how to solve this problem.

Can ANYONE help me?!

why dont you just create a "custom" setting start with any setting close to what you want, duplicate it and change it to be anamorphic and more to what you need

or goto Library/Application Support/Plugins/Final Cut Pro System Support/Custom Settings. (where your normal settings are) or go where you found your dv pal setting you need

and copy it to here ( Your User Name )/Library/Preferences/Final Cut Pro User Data/Custom Settings.
it should show up as a custom one afterwards

worth a shot i havent tried it but makes sense

good luck

Ahhh tashbee, I could KISS you right now. I thought I had exhausted every possible Final Cut folder, but you brought to light two more I didn't know existed, and once I copied all of the .fcpre sequence files into Library/Application Support/Plugins/Final Cut Pro System Support/Custom Settings, they all showed up in Final Cut once I restarted the program and it now appears to be working properly.

Tomorrow morning I will do some test captures with the sequence/preset settings and see how it goes, I don't foresee there to be any issues so I think this problem has been officially solved! Thank you very much for your help, I know I can always trust this awesome board to help me out.

THANKS!

Make sure that in your Easy Setup dialog you are not filtering out PAL. Select "PAL" or "All formats" under the Format drop down and the DV PAL preset should appear in the Use drop down.

There's another, even simpler approach, but I'm not sure if you have the footage captured already or not. If you already have it captured, then just drag it into a new sequence and Final Cut Pro will give you a warning to change the sequence settings to match the clip settings, tweak it if needed, and you are ready to edit.

Otherwise, like tashbee mentioned, you can create your own preset based on the regular PAL DV preset (all you have to do is enable the "Anamorphic 16:9" check box).
