Hi,

vegas: 9 pro
os: win 7 64

original footage: 1920x1080

output: .mov, PAL 720x576

I used some transition effects in vegas. But if i rendered it out to PAL, then i can see the effect over the letterbox :Drogar-BlackEye(DBG

How to solve this? Or what I'm doing wrong?

Please help

Project setting info would be helpful but I'll take a stab at a solution.

Import the 1080 project with the transition effects on it,etc into a PAL 720x575 project and then letterbox from there. That should keep everything out of the letterbox. Sorry if this is totally wrong, just taking a guess here.

Hi,

Project setting is like my original footage 1920x1080.

Have i really to change to project settings to PAL and render to PAL to solve this problem? Is there no other solution?

It maybe an issue with your render as settings. In the first dialogue that comes up, at the very bottom, there are some options like 'fill framesize, do not letterbox' you could try on/off. Also in the custom settings you may need to set it to export a 16x9 image instead of letterbox. Do you have to have letterbox?

A workaround would be to export the 1920x1080 file with effects, then bring it back into Vegas to export again at the PAL letterbox size.

I've had problems with Vegas and exporting when downresing or combining footage of different frame sizes , but I could usually fix them in the Render as settings. It sounds similar to what is happening. Try some different settings in small tests to find the best one.

Hope this helps,
Andy

If you're working in a widescreen project and then render out to 4:3, you may see this happen. It's better, before you render, to switch the Project properties over to the format you're going to render as (in this case, PAL standard), and check to see if you're going to have any problems like this.

hi david,

it doesnt help :(

Im using a transition effect "hard flash". I need 4:3 with letterbox for digibeta format for television.

I can not understand why i can see this effect over letterbox there.

could somebody test it and help me?

Strech the video on rendering options is not a good solution because i will loose quality and size change.

If you only have one of those, render that section as widescreen first. Then replace the section in your original timeline with it.
