URGENT: I Need Help Powering Lights!

Time is of the essence as I need to know this information yesterday. I need to be able to power lights of some sort, probably a string like you would use for Christmas, while I am out on a boat. The boat is being rented so I have no idea what equipment is on it as far as cigarette lighters, AC outlets, etc, but I can call and ask if need be. Is there a way to power Cristmas lights with a battery of sorts? Is there another way to power them without a traditional wall outlet? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

most boats have 12V and you should be able to use a power inverter. That should be able to power a few strings of lights. Depending on the kind of boat it might have AC...

A small gas powered generator would do the trick but I'm sure you thought of that. Depending on the size and type of boat you may be OK. If it's a rowboat you're going to have to use a battery of some sort. If it's a harbor cruiser, the type that does corporate outings for the day etc. You'll most likely find lots of traditional A/C plugs on board. I'd love to hear the final on this, you know how it all worked out at the end of the day...Hope it all works out:)

It's actually a party bardge we are renting at the lake for the fourth of July festivities here. I got to work stripping wire and using electrical tape only to realize that I am the biggest dumbass in the world and my plan was majorly flawed from the beginning. I won't even detail it here because it is that bad. Now to try and mend the brand new recharcgable spot light I may have ruined for good.

We may have to go without the lights, although I may take them along in case I find a magical traditional outlet on the boat. Thanks everyone, I am still trying to make this work.

Alright, so as per Mino's request, I will tell you how it all went down.

We got the bardge and drove it around all day, occaisonally stopping in various coves to swim and relax. We barbequed burgers and hotdogs and had the perfect day on the lake. Seriously, it couldn't have been better, unless I had gotten these damn lights to work!

We decorated the boat with other patriotic goods and had a good time regardless, but I saw other boats with lights and wished I had acted earlier in order to go get an inverter. But we watched the fireworks show which was literally raining down around us and had a lovely time.

Thank you all for taking the time to help me, next year I will be more prepared!

Well it sounds like you had a good time regardless. Those burgers and hot dogs sound really good right about now... now I'm hungry... nice work Penguin...
