urgent help_fcp will not pick up my camera!!

I've recently reinstalled fcp4 on my mac and now fcp doesnt pick up on the fact that my camera is plugged in through firewire. It keeps telling me that no device is plugged in.

I need some urgent help as I have a job that I need to dump right now.

Please can anyone help?!

did you go into the FCP preferences and register your camera in the system? When I first got my DVX my FCP had problems recogonizing the cam too, I left my cam on VCR mode and went to "Print To Video" option with w random clip in my timeline, and once I id that and let it play through once or twice, FCP recognized my cam. But just for humoring sake, I believe you have to go into audio/video settings, and go to capture settings and click on the camera type you are using(even though your comp should still recognize it even if you havent done this)

Hmmm?.... thanks but still not working...I have just realised that its fcp 5.0.2...could this be a reason why its not seeing my camera?

I did a test in IMovie and its seeing my camera there so that rules out the cable.

Will keep trying...

Does it say "Not connected" in the capture window? Perhaps you need to turn on FireWire device control. If it works in iMovie, it should work in FCP, so double-check all of your software settings.
