Happy holidays to you all! I desperately need help on buying a monitor for my Hvx. I have read hundreds of posts on this subject and seems like the Marshall is perhaps one of the best out there. But due to budget constraints, I can't afford one just yet. I do have a shoot over the coming weekend and need to buy a monitor for under $1000 max, which would also double as a good tax write-off lol! Please give me some recomendations on a descent HD monitor for that budget, I was looking at the Ikan V8000 HD complete with battery and all for about $800. Has anyone used it before? what problems did you have with it?
I use the Brevis adapter a lot so focus is critical, color accuracy is not as critical becoz I usually set bland colors in the camera and do most of it in post. However, it would still be nice to have a monitor that would be able to do all if I can find one for that price.
Thank you!
Jim.

iKan makes decent monitors. If you're trying to shoot with a budget, that's the way to go. Personally, I recommend TVLogic and Marshalls. Nebtek makes a decent monitor. And the LSDesigns Carrion monitor is a great product and a great way to support a fellow DVXuser.

Ikan will fit your budget but it's certainly not the best option. I picked up a Marshall off a Dvxuser member for around $1,000, so there are other options out there.
