i have premiere cs3 with the patch to read MXF files. my problem now is that i don't know what editing mode to use when i start a new project. I have the MXF files on my hard drive and just want to import them into premier.e I was thinking using "P2 720p DvcproHD 60hz" is that correct?

if thats what your files are then .. yes. if your working with some other type of material than use the project tha matches what your final edit should be deilvered in. although you can import your MXFs into ANY editing mode you want.

Where did you get this patch. I have CS3 and when I try to import MXF files it gives me the error that "File format is not supported." Any help?

Go to adobe.com and go into the support section and download the latest update for PP CS3 that should do it.

It fixed the problem for me.

I'm just going to pop a question on this thread, that's pretty much related. Can anyone report on how the MFX stuff actually works? Good? Bad? Sketchy? I downloaded the trial, but that does NOT allow you to update with the patch to edit MXF. And in general Premier has been pretty sketchy in the past, so I don't want to shell out until I can get the skinny on it.

Any reports?

For me its been flawless. Just import the video mxf just like you would any normal video into the project and edit away. To me its just like importing a bunch of clips and editing. CS3 is alot less sketchy than past versions (I've been using it since 4). I havent done much with printing back to p2 but the one time I tested it, it worked fine. This has all been with the PC side, so the Mac side may differ, dont know.

Dual Quad Core workstation with 4 gb of ram for one machine, and a dual core amd with 2gb of ram at home. AE and PP work great together on the workstation but adding AE to the mix on the single dual core is just slow. It works, but its slow. Going between the two programs works great. Lately I've done all my CC in AE. Just open the premiere project and there it is.

So two quad core processors? 8 cores????

Which OS? WinxXP64?

Thanks, Anyone else have some expereience to share about the MXF files in Premier??

My experience with MXF files since the updates have been excellent in both PPro and AE. The Dynamic Link works flawlessly and my Dell system (a Precision 690 with a pair of duel-core processors) handles everything without a hitch.
