Hi y'all!
I am a new documentary filmmaker, and I've just finished my first movie and need to send a master tape to someone who offered to color correct it for me. I also want to burn a copy to DVD to send to a friend -- I know how to do the latter, but I'm running into a problem when I try to edit to tape and when I export to Quicktime. I'm edting on FCPHD (4.5) on a G5, shot on DVX100A in 24p.
Anyway, I'm utilizing 16 audio tracks (not at the same time, of course), and there is a section in the movie as of last night where there is no audio, then there is a snipet of the background music track, then there are times where my interviewees are speaking but no music plays where it should, etc. It plays fine on the timeline, but apparently something is happening during the export process. I am just in over my head here. The movie was exporting fine until I changed one of the background songs last night to a different aiff track. Now it's messed up on playback after export (again, the audio is totally fine when the sequence is played back in FCP).
So, if anyone out there can take pity on a newbie, I have two questions:
1. What to do about the above?
2. I have never created a master tape before, and I need to send the entire project intact on tape to this guy who is going to color correct it. Am I guessing right that I have to edit to tape? Oh, by the way, I also read that only eight audio tracks can be exported, so I first exported to quicktime and created a new final sequence with one video and two audio tracks, then edited that to tape. But that doesn't seem quite right because none of the edits are intact with this method....is there some way to capture the entire project as is onto tape, with all of the edits intact, for the purpose I am describing?
I realize these are probably newbie questions, but I've worked on this movie for months, it's finished, and I had really hoped to get the master tape into overnight mail today, and I've only got about two hours to make that happen....(btw, the movie is 24 mintues long).
Thank y'all for any help you can give. I really appreciate it!
