Urgent advice needed for my shoot this sunday.

Using HVX200 + Letus Ultimate.

Wanting to execute a shot showing my actor (in focus) standing alone in the background, extras passing before the lense, in the foreground, in slow motion, blurry. Camera is pulling back on a dolly track.

How can this be best achieved? I have never done this shot before but have seen it in music videos etc...

Any help / advice / tips appreciated!!

thank you!

this is crossing the boundry into VFX. I dont really know that you can do this with a dolly move. If you killed the dolly it would be fine but what I would do is have the actor stand totally still and put the camera to 48fps with a low shutter speed and just carefully track back. Then I would do the same take at 12fps with a normal shutter speed and make it slow in post this will give your blur. I would then do a safety at 24p and a normal shutter if you decide you need to do this in post.

Do you have any example clips you could link to?

My initial thought is to use a very long lens (200mm +)at a wide aperture, shoot 48 or 60fps at a slow shutter speed, and make sure the focus pull is dead on.

There are a few ways to do this. You can have the actor move really fast and have everyone else in the shot move regular and have everyone in the shot at the same time and shoot it at 60fps. Or you record the actor first with no people in it at 23.98fps then WITHOUT moving the camera at all, put a greenscreen up a little in front of where the actor was and make sure it fills a bigger space than the actor. Then have your actors walk through the scene in front of the greenscreen and shoot that at 60fps. Make sure you record enough of both shots to fill your time frame.
Then in post in a program like After Effects you composite the two shots putting the slow motion shot on top and key out the green. Add motion blur to the slo-mo shot and your done.
