I have just finished editing a 25 minute short on premier 6 on a windows 2000 system with Matrox 2500 on it. I still have to work on Voice over which could take a couple of days.
My issue is I need to migrate to Windows XP based system with no such high end Capture card on it. I have a Nvidia Geforce 4 (128) on it, Adobe premier Pro2 and Encore 2 though. Since the first machine (Windows 2000/Matrox) was borrowed from a friend, he needs it back soon. The workflow so far has been as:
1. Captured 4: LB footage using Matrox2500 in a DV PAL 4:3 (25fps) timeline.
2. Edited and exported TIF sequence, re-touched in Photoshop for excessive grain in dark areas..
3. Cropped and Uprez to 720x640 from 720x576 for widescreen.
Now I intend to call TIF sequnce back to Premier(Still version 6) 16:9 Progressive timeline, render the above to MPEG2 file after working with voice over.
This is where I'd take the switch:
Call back MPEG in AP Pro2, Voice over in two other languages. Export to Encore for subtitling in al three languages and burn to DVD.
Since that this is first time I am doing al this, I assume that I might be assuming too much...
Am I doing/thinking right that this is the right work flow, that not rendering final output from Matrox based system won't play dirty, that Re rendering MPEG 2 from previous MPEG won't hurt the quality( I am doing this because of limited space on my new machine(100GB) as I can't copy whole captured stuff on new machine but just a MPEG2 and I have Matrox based system with me only for next 24 hours)
Please be fast or I might miss it.
Thanks in advance
