Upscaling to 4K, so we don't need 4K then...?

I might be wrong, but it seems that all those who've seen 4K and upscaled-4K from bluray side-by-side, agree that it looks pretty much indistinguishable.

Just google "4k bluray upscale" and lots of articles recently on new TV's coming out. Also been screenings with projectors doing this. I'm just puzzled... how the heck do they do it?

And more relevant than ever... Are we actually not needing "real" 4K at all since scaled bluray's pretty much look the same?

Its seems to be re wrapping 1080 into a 4k transport stream. Like how a ps3 on Tue fly transcodes 480p to 1080p from a dvd. It looks better than stretching, but its not magically going to create a 4k image. It basically extend the life of a Blu-Ray.
