Upressing 1440 to 1920?

I have to upscale or upres some video for stock footage from my HDR-FX1. What is the correct method for going from 1440x1080 to 1920x1080? Just as simple as exporting with those dimensions? :undecided

If you export as 1440 you have to set the pixel aspect ratio to something like 1.333. I'm pretty sure that's right but its something like that. If you export as 1920 then it is 1.000 pixel aspect ratio. The 1440x1080 will have a smaller file size.

Yes, when I export at 1440x1080 I use 1.33 Pixel aspect ratio. 1920x1080 , i would think, would be like 1.34 PAR or something. 1.00... thats square, for computer monitors and stuff right?

I always just use 1920x1080 with square pixels. Seems to work for me. Haven't put my HD footage onto a TV yet though. Others?

Yeah that would work good for watching on a monitor since they have square pixels. Im really just wondering if going up to the 1920 from 1440 can be done by exporting to 1920x1080 from a 1440x1080 project OR do i have to import the 1440 clips into a 1920x1080 project and rescale? Or is that just extra work for no more image quality? Is 1920 that much of a change from 1440 that I need to use a different PAR than 1.33?

You gain a little if your rezeiser is good.

If you go 1440*1080 your computer must do the scaling in real time (more or less)

On the other hand you must waste bitrate on the upscaled area.

So keep as clean workflow all the way. 1440*1080 to 1440*1080. Your avarage viewer will not know anyway.

Ok actually it work nicely. and you guys were right, 1920x1080 w/ square pixels works perfect. I got it all sorted out now.

Thanks!
