Upgrading Vegas

I currently have Vegas 7d, purchased as an upgrade kit from B&H (full version 6 with a 7 upgrade disc).

1. How many computers should I be able to install 7 on? I currently have it on one, but would like to put it on a second computer.

2. Am I eligible for the upgrade version of 9 from Sony's website, given that I have a full version of 6/upgraded to 7?

3. Would I be able to install Vegas 9 on two computers? If no, will I at least be able to have Vegas 7 on two computers, and Vegas 9 on one of them?

4. Lastly - should I wait for a new version of Vegas before upgrading? 7 has been working out great so far; I just feel ready for an upgrade.

1. Without having the license agreement in front of me, I would expect you are only allowed to install Vegas 7 on one computer. To install it on another, you would need to remove it from the first computer or purchase another copy/license.
2. Any version of Vegas Pro is eligible for the upgrade price of ~$240.
3. Same as question 1. To put it on two computers, you need to buy two copies. Again, I’m not looking at the license agreement, but I would expect that by upgrading to version 9 you are no longer entitled to run a separate copy of Vegas 7.
4. That’s totally up to you. I know it’s tempting to upgrade, but if version 7 is doing all you need, then why spend the money on an upgrade? Save your cash until you start running into limitations on what you can do, then upgrade to the software that gives you what you need.

If you stay with version 7, you should at least download 7e. It's a free update, and includes some new features along with bugfixes.

I stuck with 7 for a long time, too. I only upgraded to 9 to get the RED raw support, and skipped over 8.
From what others on the forums have said, 7-8 had some noticeable changes, but 8-9 was a very minor upgrade and many felt disappointed with how few changes were made. So, skipping 8 worked out quite well for me.

I'm quite happy with 9 now that it has had a few bugfixes. Having used Vegas since version 6, I generally prefer to avoid the "a" or "b" releases, and wait until a "c" release is out before jumping to a new version.
