Upgrading to Vegas 8 from Vegas 6

Can I upgrade to Vegas 8 directly from Vegas 6? I know that a bunch of people went the route of buying the older software and upgrading to 8 to save a bunch of $$. B&H has Vegas 6 right now for $79 and The Vegas upgrade for $99. Will this work? Or do I need to get a copy of Vegas 7 to do that?

Thanks

Yes you can upgrade from ver. 6. Actually, the upgrade looks to confirm a prior install then it goes and installs ver. 8 in a new folder. You will actually have two versions on your system if you do not choose to delete the older ver.

I checked the B&H site and see the $99 upgrade but I believe you should confirm this. The full product with DVD Architect retails for $460 and the academic upgrade with DVDA is around $219.

If your a student, teacher or school/college staffer you can save a lot by buying the Academic ver. (full functionality). However, if the $99 price is real then go for it as that beats the Academic pricing.

Good luck,

Yes, I upgraded from Vegas 6 to Vegas 8. I'm not sure about the B&H pricing, although I did pay $99 for the upgrade because at the time (last October or so), Sony was holding a special.

I actually just saw the price right before I posted and double checked just to make sure. I remember in the past talking about it on DVInfo, but I believe they were just talking about upgrading from Version 7, so I just wanted to confirm if anyone has done this.

I'm not worried about DVD Architect as we use Adobe Encore for DVD Authoring. I like the layout and features ot it much better for some reason. It's never given us any problems and our product turns out great.

Thanks for the info everyone.
