so i'm still on my Dual 1.8 G5 with 3 GB of RAM. actually been fine for me, except i will be doing HD work soon, and i'm also sick of looooong compression exports!! so it's about that time to sell my stable and workhorse G5, and get a new Mac Pro 8 core -- i think?
however, i've heard they are having some issues with FCP..and Leopard.
1) can i run FCP 5 on the new Intel chip Macs? or will have to upgrade to FCP 6 as well??
2) anyone have any issues/complaints with their Mac Pros?
3) any praises for the new Mac Pros?

just wasn't sure if i should get a non Intel G5 (newer version than mine-2.5 dual) for about 1200-ish, or dump $3000 for a brand spankin new Mac Pro.
i'm also in the market for an HVX soon..gonna be mucho money outta my pocket!!

any advice would be great!! thanks in advance.

I believe you should run FCP 6.02 with leopard, it has to do with the newest quicktime. I also believe that the issue they were having was with quicktime but I read that It was fixed. I just had a problem with my dual 2.0 G5 and DVD SP and FCP and had to redo Tiger and then reinstall FCP suite 2. First time I ever had a problem with the suite. I run all the programs in FCP every day and never had a problem until I updated to the latest quicktime. I started having problems with DVD SP not seeing the mattes in the template work windows, and compressor wouldn't work from FCP. I rebuilt compressor and then FCP and found it wouldn't work until I went in and chose a size in the layout menu under the windows menu. For some reason compressor will lose its window size connection and it needs to be chosen again. Best place to buy the 8 porc is from Apple's refurbished site on the store page. You have to keep watching because they go quick but they were $2699 the other day. Good luck.
