Upgrading Premiere File compatability?

Well, the gods have shined down on me and i have finally got my new computer, BUT i have some current work going on in Premiere 6.02, does anyone know if Premiere Pro 1.5 will open the same files and let me continue or should i finish the current job before installing the new premiere. (I'm still using the same Hard drive so my current premiere is intact.)

Thanks

Jimmy

Yes, 1.5 should open up and conform your old project. However, the safest route is always to just finish your project in the current version, export to tape, DVD, etc.

When I upgraded from Premiere Pro 1.0 (actually version 7 of Premiere) to Premiere Pro 2.0 I was able to load up an old project into version 2.0. Other than the project having the red render bar over all of the footage (it played back in realtime though) and having to relink to some files it was totally recovered.

I have had no experience conforming an old project from any of the versions before the program was renamed Premiere Pro, so there may be differences that would cause it to not conform to a new project in 1.5. I do know that it works with Premiere Pro versions 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0.

You should also be able to install version 1.5 and still keep version 6.02 on as well. That way you can work on your old projects and begin new ones in 1.5.

Thanks, luckily i've been out for the last 2 days and it hasn't burnt a whole through me yet. We'll see in the morning...
