upgrading computer

I'm planning on getting an HV20 but I need to upgrade my computer to be able to edit HD. Right now I can't even play it. I want to upgrade the least parts possible though, right now I have:

- Windows XP
- 1.3 Ghz AMD Athlon 1500
- 1.5 Gb RAM
- 300Gb hard drive
- NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420
- Asus motherboard

I was thinking of going with just updating the processor to this:

and then I'll need a new motherboard that can support it, I was thinking of maybe this one:

That would be about $370 total. Would I need anything else in order to edit HD?

ernesto, the 6420 comes with twice the l2 cache for only $1 more. that would be the one to get.

your ram is not compatible. you'll need some ddr2 ram.

your graphics card is incompatible with that motherboard. you will need a card that is pci express x16. yours plugs into an agp slot.

you may need a new power supply as well.
