Upgrade to Vegas 9 from 7.0?

Hi all. Looking for some wisdom about whether to finally upgrade my NLE.

My current setup:
-Vegas 7.0d
-Windows XP Pro 32 Bit
-3 Gigs Ram
-Intel Q6600 Quad Core @ 2.4 GHz
-NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285
-Canon XH-A1

The above system has performed well. I like the Vegas workflow. However, video preview on 7.0d has never been quite perfect IMHO. And I'm wondering what else I'm missing in 9.

So, my questions:
1. Is Vegas 9 a worthy upgrade, stable, and so forth by now? Does it have major advantages over 7.0? Is the output quality limited in some way compared to other NLEs?

2. How is the DVD authoring application? Does it do Blu-Ray? Does it include some kind of labeling software?

3. Am I right in thinking I can upgrade to 9 for $250? (I currently own the Vegas 6 + Upgrade to 7.0 pack, purchased from B&H).

4. How does Vegas 9 run in XP 32 bit? Would now be a good time to switch to a 64 bit OS?

1) Not many actual new features, but support for more formats.

2) DVD Architect is mostly unchanged from your version (4?), though Blu-ray authoring is included. No labeling software.

3) You should be able to, with a valid product code.

4) Fine, but 64-bit is where it's at (for just about everything).

Thanks David. So by your estimation it seems I should stick with 7.0d. I'm not at all unhappy with it.

I suppose my big question is, am I missing higher output quality by not upgrading? Better codecs? I still haven't gotten Cineform, would this still be a good upgrade for me?

No.

If you're happy and it works with everything you want, then there's no particular reason to upgrade. But if you need the increased support, you should. Or, if you want to go to 64-bit (which IS an performance improvement).

Thanks again. I've been out of the loop with gear and such for the past year, but refreshing it all now.

So is Cineform NeoScene still the go-to codec for the Windows side?
