Hi,
i have a rode lavalier but the 3m rode cable is very thin. I use the micon xlr and an extension xlr cable to connect into a sony hxr-nx30.
(even when i travel im scared the cable will break)

I thought of buying a AT803b since the lavalier has a cable xlr (and not attached to a rode cable that is very thin) and i can use a XLR extension.

Do you guys see it as an advantage ?
Is the audio quality is about the same?

Thanks in advance,

i like the rode lavalier since the signal of audio is quite loud when i plug it into a sony hxr-nx30

I wouldn't worry about the cable itself much, but the Micon plug/adapters are a weak point as I've read.

I've had a couple of my Micon adapters get finicky. So, I have spares. I've never had a cable give out, but I have spares of those as well. I figure it is better than having multiple spares of an entire microphone assembly.
