Hi,
i have a rodevideomic pro plugged in a sony cx760v. The quality is average.

I thought of using a NTG3 in the cx760 but it needs 48v phantom power and i dont want to use a juicedlink.
I have a PCM-M10 recorder.

what option do i have to upgrade (and not using rodevideomic pro) ? (i could use pcm-m10 to have a better preamp sound)

Thanks in advance,

Why are you against a juicedlink? Is it the item or the workflow? Your only going to get marginally better sound from the NTG 3 v.s the rode with your current setup. Even though it's a much better mic, you need better mic placement (not on top of the camera) and you need a better and more powerful preamp that will take advantage of the mic you end up using. There's no magic mic that will give you great sound if you overlook these two crucial items, doesn't matter how expensive the mic is, your stuff will sound terrible.

Mic placement is the most important thing, then preamp, then microphone. If you insist on recording audio from on top of your camera then your money is best spent on a mixer like a juicedlink or Sound Devices MP-1 that can me mounted under or on your rig. If you start recording off camera sound you should still use the MP-1 along with your recorder.

Recommendation for around $600:
Off Camera Sound (boom poll or boom arm)
MP-1
Used NTG 2
