Heyhey!
It's update time! My current rig is as follows:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition
Corsair XMS2 2GB DDR2 800MHz CL4
Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case
Power: Cooler Master eXtreme 600W
Also I have two 19" monitors..
What I'm looking to update is the memory, that is add a couple of gigs. I think I'll be happy at 4gb since I won't be upgrading to 64 bit anytime soon.
I also want to beef up the processor. I'm running the e6600 overclocked at 3.15ghz but it still isn't giving the me the performance I want. What I'm looking at is the q6600 or the e6850...both very similarly priced.
Remember, this is going to be mostly for editing and effects work with occasional gaming. The current setup has been fine for most things, but I still find it lags when I pile a couple of layers of effects on my footage, even at SD. I've heard the Quad Cores are useful for editing, especially on Vegas which is my editor of choise, but the 6850 does have some ups, like the higher bus speed and such..
I'm also looking at overclocking potential here, with regards to my motherboard, which honestlu isn't a very good overclocker...
What's the consensus here guys?
Also, would getting another 8800gts and running them in SLi mode give me ANY benefits in video and composition work?
PS: a single 24" monitor VS two 19" ?
