Updating Final Cut Pro

Hey guys,

I use my new macbook pro only for editing and want to avoid going on the internet with it. But for an update or registration I have to go on the internet. So I tried to estabilish a connection and filled in all the information I took from my pc laptop connection (like ip adress, subnetmasker, standard gateway, dns server) but I couldn't get an connection. I hope one of you guys can help me with it. Thanx in advance.

you are just trying to get your macbookpro to connect to the net? you probably dont have to fill in any of that stuff. how are you connecting? router? usually macs you just plug in and they work...

The first thing I'd try is go to the Apple Menu, choose Location, and choose Automatic. Connect to your network via Ethernet. Hopefully you're on a network that supports DHCP (in english this means that net addresses are assigned to each machine automatically). Most home network routers are configured to do this by default).

Depending on your specific network, there could be many things at issue. What kind of network do you have? Ethernet LAN w/ Router connected to DSL or Cable Modem? Dial up? In an office environment?

Tried to do it in automatic, but it says that automatic connection is not possible. I think it is a cable modem an it is an office environment. My office is next to the main office and I have one internet cable for my office. I have connnected my pc laptop and that's fine, but my macbook says no connection. Thanx for helping!
