Updates on Similo?

Thanks. Judging by the vimeo excerpts and reviews so far it looks like they delivered. 3 years was it? Seemed like forever but it looks amazing as expected from them and more. Congrats to them.

The CGI in this is flawless. Very impressive. The fact that you can't tell what's CGI is perfect.

I'm always amazed how we have people who are masters of one discipline (here CGI) and total dilettantes of another (here understanding what it takes to convey a story). Is it that in times of connectivity the masters can't connect with other masters to producer a real masterwork or is it that in times of selfish megalomaniac self-promotion those masters presume themselves to be masterful in ALL disciplines and thus don't even search for others?

What i also find fascinating how quickly (almost in a blink of an eye) "WOW" can turn into "Oh, no..." "Antarctica. Summer." (wow) "Future" (Oh, no... in what world do i not know that it has to be the future? Why am i provided this unnecessary information? How stupid the filmmakers think i am? How simplistic are the filmmakers in their understanding what needs to be told and what isn't?). If one can turn into another so quickly, it proves how exact our filmmaking has to be - exact not only in one discipline (here masterful execution of CGI) but in all disciplines. This bring up the never ending conversation on this forum about what makes a good film - everything. And that is why the answer is so hard to materialize - hardly ever "everything" falls into place.

re: my CGI comment. I was commenting on that soley because that is my primary skill and interest in this world of video. That is solely my opinion. I'm not qualified to technically judge any other aspect of the film other than to say it is very beautiful. I personally love the european style if I may even say that without reprimand.
