Updated to Premiere CC 2015 Tonight! (and it's only crashed once so far)

After doing 3 projects with this new version, I'm definitely noticing a tradeoff. Lumetri Color is amazing and has made coloring wayyyyy faster and painless. That's an improvement, but I'm not sure if the benefits outweigh the issues.

ISSUES:

1. Playback on my machine is not as good as the previous version. The behavior is drastically different. In the previous version, once in a while when playback started slowing down (due to too many effects or layers on top of eachother) it would skip frames and stay in sync with the music. If I hit the spacebar it would stop, and I could start playing again and it would fix itself. NOW, what happens is I hit spacebar and the program becomes slightly irresponsive and continues to play the skipping video and audio, apparently out of sync with one another. This results in these micro "freakout" moments here and there where I feel like I'm trying to get the computer to do one thing but it's not doing what I expect it to based on the previous behavior of the timeline. Super annoying.

2. Audio playback randomly cuts out. It seems as if this update maybe isn't playing as nicely with my sound card as the last version did. I did have issues with sound at times before, but closing the program and opening would fix the problem for a few hours. With this update, the problem is consistent, and I get these yellow pop-up notifications in the corner to remind me every time the audio skips a beat. One time, this happened and I could no longer hear *ANY* audio on my computer (including other programs) and I had to restart my machine to get it to start working. WTF

3. On export, I am noticing that if the video starts with a strong musical sound, there is a "popping" sound that sounds like a 1-frame peak of the audio. My workaround is to do a keyframe fade in from -infiniti DB to 0db for the first 2 frames of the video to get the popping sound to go away. This is annoying but I can deal with it.

4. The loading graphic/photo for this version is FUGLY. A client of mine on an editing session commented "Does that dude have a bulge in his pants? What is this program?" OK this may be a non-issue but come on Adobe... this looks like they randomly selected an employee's Instagram photo to save money on licensing fees.

Ugh......I'm the last guy to bash CC, but right off the bat I'm missing a crucial audio filter that I always use "AU Peak Limiter"

"Audio Filter missing: 4:1635083896 1819112562 1634758764"

I always use it to bring up soft levels and it's worked like a charm. (It was a mainstay in Final Cut Pro and then eventually was gravitated over to Premiere, which I loved) Now it just doesn't seem to exist in 2015 version.

Legacy projects will be borderline useless because my audio levels will have to be completely re-edited. (There's no indication per clip of a missing filter, it's just a stock message i got at project startup)

Any leads? Any alternatives (in program) for raising soft levels w/o distortion?

I will say (it could just be my imagination) the images in the source/record windows do look more vibrant....so there's that. We will see how things look when exported out. I'm just getting started and I'm already frustrated.

PS: the startup screen is bush league.
PPS: I like to make folders for my favorite video & audio filters....this will be like the 4th time I've had to do it. I wish that info would carry over from version to version. Keyboard shortcuts seemed to have carried.

AU missing audio.jpg

I just re-downloaded 2014 to continue work on existing projects. here is a side-by-side look at the missing audio filters. All the "AU" filters seem to have not carried over to the latest version. : (

I know the best sound work would be done in another program, but in the interest of time, i love having the filters readily available in PP. Are these filters really all gone, or did something go wrong on my install/upgrade?

If you go into the Audio Effects panel, there's a little menu icon that you can click. Once you get it open you can re-scan your computer for audio plugins and the Audition plugins (AU) will repopulate in your effects... it's a little 'gotcha,' for sure...

I would put in a bug report/feature request to Adobe and post your displeasure in the Premiere forum. I have a feeling a lot of bugs/missing features are going to pop up as they roll out the release :(

Much appreciated, Doug! Your post saved me some frustration and got me back on track this afternoon.

In case anyone had the same issues as I did, there are a few steps once you get inside the menu icon. click on it, go down to "audio plug in manager" and then hit "Scan for Plug Ins"

I'm just delving into this (I'm nothing of a colorist/grader) There are a few nice functions readily available and yes, not having to step out of the program is a plus.
