Updated to Premiere CC 2015 Tonight! (and it's only crashed once so far)

Jumped into using the newly updated Adobe Premiere CC 2015 about 5 hours ago, mid project with a 1st draft deadline tomorrow (risky, I know), and the first feature I've tested is the new Lumetri Color effect... which freakin' rocks!! Was able to quickly refine the coloring/look of my entire project as well as fix a few shots that didn't quite match in a matter of minutes.

I tried using the somewhat hyped up Morph Cut effect, and after tinkering with it and it failing on me a number of times ("unable to detect face") I'm convinced that it only works for medium-close and closeup shots of a face with no camera motion. Hitting CTRL+Z numberous times to back out of using that effect resulted in the software crashing, but fortunately I hit save every 2 minutes now-adays so it's all good. I was hoping the effect would work without a face, and function as a way to stitch together two similar shots, but sadly that's just not the case.

Once I have some time I'll check and see if some previous bugs were fixed... although my need for the Three Way Color Corrector (which causes permanent flickering in projects if used even once) has been eliminated with this Lumetri Color effect. Same with the flickering issue with the "Shadow & Highlight" effect which was a complete mess to work with, but also obsolete due to that functionality being better implemented in the Lumetri plugin.

Hoping I don't have some crazy export related bugs tomorrow when I need to show this to the client... *crosses fingers*

Anyone else get the update?

I just updated myself.

Morph Cut for me was hit or miss, even with a still background. It depends a lot more on the subject's movement - if they're very emotive, and like to move, like a lot of my interviewees, I find that it's better than just a cross dissolve, but it looks a little weird.

As for Lumetri Color - it's amazing! It's basically Colorista + Camera RAW. Obviously, if you're not working with RAW footage it's not really RAW, but I was grading some old 60D footage, and it did a fine job! And quickly too! It's an efficient way to get good color. Colorista used to destroy my machine because I'd have to apply to so many different clips. I've placed several Lumetri Colors on one clip and it plays back in realtime. I'm very excited for the potential in this new feature.

Thanks for the updates! Can't way to try this and will most likely update even though am in the middle of a few projects. The lumetri color sounds too good to pass. :)

Does this update install as a new Premiere or does it overwrite the previous?

I started installing updates as I was leaving house this morning (Starting with photoshop) and it looks like it uninstalls cc2014 but transfers your settings and preferances.

I will throw my hat in the ring as well, just installed the update and lumetri color is amazing. The best part about it is how fast it is. Running 4K footage with Lumitri effects on it, the program would stutter before and now it plays back smooth. Looking forward to opening up speedgrade and seeing what's in store.

Just installed cc 2015. It replaces 2014 but leaves its "ghost" on the dock... Kind of a strange startup screen. Morph cut looks a little suspect :/... otherwise Lumetri looks promising.

I want to try it but I dont care to replace my 2014 though i'll see what everybody thinks and maybe upgrade after a major update. Has everyone's plugins transferred without issues?

There is setting in the Creative Cloud app you can check to NOT have CC2015 replace your CC2014 apps.

Any time I update CC, I select the option to keep the previous version on my computer. Every version has it's issues it seems, and until I become familiar with the bugs and their workarounds I don't delete the previous version.

Something I found in this update that's a little strange is audio playback while playing the timeline. Sometimes the audio glitches out independently of the video, cutting out for a moment during playback, and I get a weird yellow notification in the bottom right corner saying something about an error with the audio.

Am updating program at a time. Got Premiere updated last night and went to open one of my projects. Said it was a previous version and had to update. :-( That sux since I will not be able to go back to 2014 if I need to once I start making changes to my projects.

I have updated Premiere because Adobe announced native support for Odyssey 7Q RAW files. My first test was disappointing: the 'edit raw-settings' button is greyed out. Lumetrir works but I had hoped that Camera RAW settings will appear ... same way like in AE.

Any idea if this will work with PP 2015?

+1. Any way to turn off this warning? Kinda annoying...

OK after playing around with 2k15 all weekend I am highly impressed. I had a great conversion from CS5.5 to CC I felt the upgrade was quite comfortable and didnt regret not going to CS6 when it was released. I felt like it utilized my GPU better and I liked the feature of being able to add effects to the clips while playing the timeline did not stop playback which was a gamechanger for me. 2014 seemed to not like to use all 8 cores of my CPU when prerendering and exporting and I was starting to think everyone was right about AMD not being suitable for Premiere pro. 2015 utilizes all my core properly and the GPU definitely kicks in when its supposed to. Ive experienced no crashes, which I had issues with that in ever version of premiere but non 2014 CC and It handles the few plugins I actually use often very well. I recommend anyone out there that does not have Jarles 3.0 to download it and use it. It has some very useful tools if you currently do not and its free at http://premierepro.net/

Delighted with the update. I'm amazed with the Lumentri color panel. It's made it so much easier for me to color correct and grade. In fact I now have no need for Speedgrade and uninstalled it. The only negative was that I lost all my keyboard shortcuts but that's probably because I forgot to uncheck "uninstall previous version". Never mind, won't take me long to reset them. Very pleased with the update. Tried out Morph cut on three different talking head scenes and found that it works very well, the edit is barely noticeable.

Happy with the update (especially Lumetri) but there are a few kinks. I can't get a real-time playback on Morph cut (working on an older mac pro though) and I am having an issue with PP freezing when relinking a lot of media -- anyone else having this problem?

Hi scorsesfan,

i have a maxed out 2014 iMac Retina and I'm not getting realtime playback on morph cut either. I mean it initially shows up as a red segment in the work bar then takes 2 seconds to render from red to yellow. I'd have to render then to green for completely smooth playback.

But I should preface that by adding that the clip in question was not native to the timeline. It's a standard DV clip dropped into a 1080p sequence, not sure if that's what's preventing the realtime render. Will do tests on clips native to their sequences.

Thanks. Curious to know how that works out .
