Updated QT, and now it's not working right.

I've also got this posted in the Apple forums, but haven't gotten a lot of responses.

I updated quicktime to 7.1.6, and now when I try and watch anything, it's all very pixelated.

Strange thing is, though, is that it only does it to about half of the vids I try to watch (all MOV's)

Even when I export out of FCP, it's pixelated all the hell.

What can I do here? I was going to trash the prefs, but I can't find them. How can I uninstall and retry? anything?

here's a grab:

Ah what version of OSX do you have? Apple has reinstallers for QT, but all I found was only applicable for OSX 10.3.9 (Reinstaller). If there is an updated reinstaller for 10.4.x and later QT 7's, I can't seem to find it. Perhaps email Apple directly (might be a wait for a reply, but might give an easier result to fix it). Good luck.

cheers.

Thanks man. Yeah... I've been over at the apple forums, and it seems a LOT of people are having issue's with the new QT update. Different problems, but still problems.

I'm not dead in the water or anything, so I'll shoot an email and wait for the response.

oh yeah, I'm on 10.4.9

same here, though my problem seems to relate to installing iTunes 7.3. (6/29), so a i may need to post separately:

after installing iTunes, files that i've recently exported in FCP 5.1.4. only play intermittently in Quicktime 7.1.6., or, and more regularly, do not play at all: quicktime simply freezes. i can't even force quit it!

using OS X 10.4.9

waiting also from a response from apple - thanks for the tips so far!

regards

Here's a suggestion. Create a new user with Admin privs...log into the user and see if it is still happening. This will generally eliminate any preference corruptions from your old user.
