.:Updated our site:.

Sharp looking site.

Two quick suggestions: Kill the splash screen - just open on the home page and add some sort of rollover for the buttons on your navigation bar.

Why is everything images?
You can save 2 thirds of your bandwidth using text and repeated backgrounds

I dont know how to make it text on images. I just make it in photoshop and export to dreamweaver. I wish I knew how to do it because its unsearchable the way it is now.

The buttons were going to be flash animated. Actually the whole site was going to be but I didn't want to have to keep changing and adding animations everytime I updated the site.

You can export each page with the text layers in PS hidden. Then in Dreamweaver where you see your table cells, for each cell that has the image you can assign it as backround image.
i.e. select the image in design view, delete it and in properties panel below link the image as background. Html code would be something like:
Code:
<table>
  <tr>
    <td backround="images/News2_30.gif">Text for search engines here</td>
  </tr>
</table

Putting text over backgrounds was something I really struggled to wrap my head around, but I'm glad I did figure it out. Basically you do what Steve said - what you're doing is just making a background image for each cell in the table. You've already got lots of tables, so instead of making the content of a cell the img, you make the img the background (using Steve code as a model) and then just put the text over it.

Looks SUPER sharp, though!

thanks! I will try that but what about the lining up of text? I make a table for each text and try to crop it as close to the left side of the actual text then hide it?
I don't even look at the code when I do this normally but I will try to figure that out.

Table cells have an align property. Right.Left,Center,Justify.
<td align="center">
Most of this are accesible from the properties bar in DW. All you have to do is select the cell. Use Ctrl + mouse click. Roll over cells with Ctrl pressed to see them turn red (activated for selection).

Or, better yet, do it with CSS. It's MUCH more flexible. :beer:

Thanks guys. I don't know how to mess with CSS. :P
I will try the photoshop thing first. I guess I will try just a box within a box with text to see what happens. Do you guys have any sample photoshop files and an html to show what happens so I will know if I got it right?

Hey Aram, it's kinda hard to explain, but when you have it right in dreamweaver, you can type text on top of the graphic. It's not something you'd do in photoshop though. You'd set your table background like Steve had and that should work.

Thanks Timur, I have some more stuff to add too. :P
Stuff happens so fast, I hate having to update.

Looks great man. You were part of a few sites I sent my designer when putting mine together. Ours looks nothing like yours but the simplicity of it was a cool inspiration. Good luck!

looks great. I agree with the splash screen though. It doesn't add anything... Other than that, looks crisp. Hopefully you can figure out the way to make it load faster. I just made mine in flash. You have a lot more to yours though. G'luck

Cool :) Thanks for the props. Good luck on yours.

Sheppy, I like the way yours is and I want to do something like that for my DP reel for arambauman.com.
