Update to FCS2 Today...impressions/problems/success stories in here....

The feature I'm currently working on ran into a major glitch that shut down our editor for 2 days. We were working in ProRes 422, and we had to re-sync almost all of the audio with the picture within FCP 6.0.1. We couldn't just create new clips, because that would have screwed up our online.

We started off working on 2x G-Raid 1 TB drives, but we upgraded to a fibre channel drive after a week. When we relinked all of the files we ran into a glitch in all of the clips we had to re-sync. FCP was reading them as over 12 hours long, and would crash every time we tried to open them in the viewer.

We had to drag every single clip into the timeline, and adjust the I/O points, and drag the clips back into the viewer. After that the computer ran slower because of all the hoops we were having it run through, but it worked.

I don't think we'll dare updating it until this project is done.

DO NOT UPGRADE YET if you're an HVX user. Apparently there's some bug that breaks FCP's ability to read any quicktime DVCPRO-HD file that was created prior to installing FCS 6.02 and/or Quicktime 7.03. Best to wait it out until this gets sorted out.
